Portugal recognizes South Ossetia and Abkazia

... well, implicitly.
Blowing up all the good diplomatic work done in the last months, and going against all that was said and done, the portuguese government recognized the illegal independence of a southern province of Serbia, alleging "int'l relations are based on pragmatism and 'consumed fact' principles [that's for the idiots around there, like myself, who thought it was based on 'int'l law'], and besides it's in [and now the punch line] Portugal's best economic interests".
People on the street (overwhelming supportive of non-recognition) ask themselves what was the bargain under-the-table. More cheap 3nd hand planes and subs from a renowned arms cartel?

In related news, Makedonia recognized its own right to cease to exist, and Black Mountain its right to offer its south part to its southern neighbour, in exchange for NATO (the arms cartel) and EU (formerly the free money donor) membership... member... ship? Actually, makes sense.

Yeap, Macedonia recognized Kosovo, and probably agreed for all kind of future scenarios, ranging from federalization down to losing part of teritories.

All thanks to our short-sited government who was more interested in the upcoming business opportunities in Kosovo. Which we are surely just gonna get crumbs of it, if we get any at all.

On other hand comes the question ... what were we suppose to do. Both by recognizing and not recognizing Kosovo we were gonna make someone angry at us, and left emptyhanded.

Jebem mu mater .... not much you can do when you are "banana republika". I wish we had some bananas at least ;-).
